Passports: Travelers need to ensure their passports are valid for at least three months beyond their planned date of departure out of the 26 Schengen Area European Countries. However, the U.S. State Department also advises Americans to have at least six months’ validity remaining on their passport whenever they travel abroad.
Visas: No visa is currently required for travelers from the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada to visit Italy if the visit is less than 90 days.* For citizens of the European Union, a national ID card is all that is required. Visitors from countries other than those mentioned above should check with the nearest Italian consulate or embassy to verify travel formalities. See below for two important changes this year:
1. Effective January 8, 2025, an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) will be required for travelers of various nationalities (including American) to visit and/or transit through the UK. Visit this link for further details.
2. *The EU is planning to implement a similar process mid-2025, but the effective date is still TBD as of March 11, 2025. The process will require a valid passport, completing an online form, and paying a small fee estimated to be about $10. Here is a link to an article with some FAQs.
Airport Shuttle: Transportation to and from the Rome airport will be available before and after the Feast for a fee. We will collect travel information at a later date. Cost will be €40 one way per person and €70 round trip per person.
Feast Site Address & Phone Number:

Group excursions will be offered on two three afternoons during the Feast. Further details will be shared as the Feast approaches. A pre-Feast tour will be available for those interested. A 30 percent deposit will be required during part 2 of the registration process.
Dates: October 1-6, 2025
We will arrive in Naples on the 1st, with lodging at Capodimonte (a peaceful hillside hotel overlooking Naples), providing a peaceful hotel we can spend the Day of Atonement.
On October 3, we will leave Naples by a boat (a wooden caicco—sail boat) to cross the Naples Gulf to visit Capri and Sorrento. There we will spend the night and Sabbath at a hotel on the gulf. On the 5th we will travel to the other side of the peninsula to visit Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello.
On October 6, we will depart of Sabaudia to arrive early to settle in before sunset.
If people would like to arrive early in Naples, we can provide strategic housing close to downtown and a station.
Cost per person in a double room is €1,150.00 per person or €1,950.00 per person in a single room.
CHURCH SERVICES AND TRANSLATION
English speakers are welcome and do not need to speak Italian. Some of the services will be held in Italian and some in English, with simultaneous translation into the other language provided via translation equipment. Visitors should bring headphones with a standard jack to plug into the translation receiver which will be provided onsite.
ELECTRICITY
The electrical current in Italy is 230 volts, 50Hz. This will burn out North American appliances if no transformer/converter is used. Note that a transformer/converter is not the same thing as an adapter. An adapter is the physical plug that fits in the wall outlet. The sockets in Italy are either Type C (two round pins) or Type F (two round pins with two earth clips), rather than the rectangular flat type found in North America. A transformer/converter is a separate item that modifies the electrical current for North American appliances, from 110V to 220V.
EXCHANGING MONEY
The currency used in Italy is the Euro. Exchange rates vary from day to day. As of March 11, 2025, it costs $1.09 to buy one Euro. This will most likely change before the Feast.
We recommend that visitors change at least a small amount of money before their trip to be sure they have some local currency on arrival. While traveler’s checks are a safe way to bring money since they can be replaced if lost or stolen, they are becoming more difficult and expensive to change.
Debit Cards
Many visitors use ATM cards to withdraw Euros from ATMs. A visitor’s bank account is debited in the home currency and a small fee is charged. This is very convenient and one of the least costly ways to change money, since the fee is offset by an often more advantageous exchange rate.
Airports/Specialized Exchange Offices
If you need to change foreign bills for Euros, your best option would be a specialized exchange office, such as those found in airports and some larger cities (i.e. Global Exchange, American Express or Travelex).
Credit Cards
MasterCard and Visa are widely accepted in Italy; other credit cards (i.e. Discover or American Express) are accepted in a more limited way or not at all. It is also possible to use a MasterCard or Visa with a PIN code to obtain a cash advance (in which case visitors are charged a fee, as well as interest on the cash advance "loan" by the home bank.)
When using a credit card for purchases, you typically receive an advantageous exchange rate. Look for one which does not charge foreign transaction fees if possible. You may be asked if you would like your purchase converted to USD at the point of sale, but it is usually more advantageous to have the purchase rung up in EUR.
The bottom line: it is always a good idea to have at least two different means of procuring Euros in case there is a problem with an ATM machine or with your card.
